Jorunna parva

            Jorunna parva was discovered by the famous Japanese malacologist kikutaro Baba in March 1937. Today, they have found in South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, China Nanhai, Papua New Guinea, Australia, South Africa, Seychelles and Tanzania etc.Although they are widely distributed, it is not easy to find them in the colourful coral reef because they have petite stature. Their body length is generally 20~40 mm, width is about 10 ~ 20 mm.

            Jorunna parva has slender body and their dorsal part of body has a pair of ear like small stick, it called rhinophore which is a chemoreceptor. As a nudibranch species, their dorsal part of body's gill imaging that a kind of "small tail" instead of their ctenidium. In our impression, Jorunna parva should be black and white but most of them are deep yellow to dark brown only a few of them are black and white.

            Jorunna parva hide themselves as a true of gastropod animal-- they also have a muscular foot, foot's single cell mucous glands can secrete mucus which allow the body to slide forward. In front of the ventral also has a pair of long tentacles and the middle of the tentacles is their mouth which has many tongue horny teeth for scraping their favorite sponge.

            In the feeding process, some of them like eat food containing certain compounds and accumulation of toxins from food using as a chemical defense.Some will be use secondary metabolites in food by biotransformation in body producing more effective antifeedant. Some can also synthesize some compounds for self-perpetuating.

            In order to support two sets of reproductive system and let it work normally and continuously produce sperm and eggs, Jorunna parva has to store enough energy. So they only appeared in the food rich areas enabling them to get enough energy to afford the huge energy consumption.

Liguus virgineus

     Liguus virgineus, was known as the Candy Cane Snail,is a kind of

air-breathing land snail which lives in the tree and breathes on the lungs, so they also called the tree snail.They lived only in the Caribbean (in Haiti, Dominic) and at the mountains of eastern Cuba.There are some live records which was found in Florida in recent decades.They feed on moss and fungi covering on the bark.Their conical shell about 30-60 mm long and they have smooth, thin and strong surface.Candy Cane Snail's living environment is extremely demanding, so they only appeared in these areas.

        The holes in their shell which with pale red edge is purple with white or dark gray.The shell roof is white, purple or black.White background color of the shell rounds the colorful bands and gradual color area.The shell of infant and newborn is yellowish green, mature shell is bluish grey.With life and time gradually fades, gorgeous color stripes will gradually fade or flaking.

        Biologists believe that candy cane snail's beauty which like flower and fruit may becomes a defense strategy, using this way they can confuse the predators such as Rostrhamus sociabilis. They are not the favorite food of birds and have low probability hunting before humans found their beauty.

        Although the distribution range of the liguus tree snail is narrow, the human activity which in origin area of nearly a hundred years is relatively moderate, so it makes this species survived.However, more and more colorful snail collectors and demanding trade of shellfish handicraft caused a huge impact for the amount of the snails.Today, many areas have banned this kind of tree snail collection and sales.Now, in addition to scientific research, people exiting with the Cuban candy snails will violate Cuban's law.A forest destruction can make tree snail disappeared, they are beautiful and fragile, so we need to protect them.

       For me, I will ask myself three questions.Can I hold someone else? When you have money, someone may rub your money.When you are famous, someone may rub your fame.Also, when you become beautiful, someone may rub your beauty.Face of this sudden change of interpersonal relationship, we may feel confused.

       Can I hold myself? Our impression of the upstart is not good, because they have unlimited expansion of confidence with rich and easily impulsive consumption spending billions of dollars.Then suddenly become beautiful, will we impulse consumption of beauty? Will we take too much opportunities which do not belong to us?
